  1. Really great beans Merlot! I love tomato soup, and it added just the right flavor without tasting soupy, if that makes sense! I made them as the recipe read, except i left out the ground beef, only because i served them with hamburgers, i'll make them with the ground beef next time. The mixture of beans was also great. i'll definately make these again.

  2. Oh Lady! You have a gooood recipe!Yes I meant the "good" to look that way!I will be making this recipe over and over.I used the pork and beans, and the butter beans. From now on I will just use the pork and beans. This recipe will be great for a cookout. Thanks so much Merlot for sharing :0)

  3. My family prefers butter beans so I used all 3 cans of butter beans instead of the pork & beans. The crowd went wild! I had to promise to never make baked beans any other way.

  1. I made them in a cast iron dutch oven and just transferred the whole dish to the oven so that I didn't have to dirty so many dishes.

  2. We have a local caterer that sells a version of these and we love them! So glad I can make them myself now! I have been making them with ground Turkey instead of ground beef and no one has detected a difference. Thanks so much for sharing!

  3. liked, did not love. i think that the tomato soup and brown sugar made it much too sweet. the next time i will cut the brown sugar back to 1/4 cup. i used already cooked bacon pieces in a jar and ground turkey instead of the beef. also used bush's baked beans with onions, eliminating the need to use the chopped onions, less work for lazy me. will re-review after i make it again.

  4. This is almost the exact same recipe I have used for years. Only differance is I use tomato sauce instead of tomato soup and more often than not I use kidney beans or northern beans. My DH does prefer the butter beans they are just not my favorite. My advice, double the recipe because they get better every time you warm them up.Update: I can't believe I forgot to star this recipe.

  5. I used Bush's Bold and Spicy baked beans instead of the pork and beans, only 1 can of tomato soup, and reduced the brown sugar by more than half. These were a nice side to a casual hamburger and hot dog cookout with friends, but I don't think that we would have cared for them as written. The pork and beans usually have a softer (mushier) texture and are much sweeter. That isn't to our tastes.
