I highly recommend the Snapware Snap ‘N Stack 2 Layer Food Storage W/ Egg Holder TraysCurried Deviled Eggs Recipe (5) if you need to transport deviled eggs. I am madly in love with snapware, and this container is reasonably priced, gets your eggs there without them moving or getting squashed, and you can put thin ice packs underneath the trays to keep the eggs cold while transporting. I also use this for storing in the fridge. I have two, so simply stack them when making a lot of deviled eggs for a large party!

Tips and variations for making these curried deviled eggs:

● To make this recipe keto friendly, skip the Greek yogurt and substitute 1/3 cup of Mayonnaise (this would be in addition to the ¼ cup of mayo listed in the recipe).

● In case you are not serving the curried deviled eggs immediately, do not garnish. Cover and keep them refrigerated. Garnish just before serving.

● Many people use a star tip in their piping bag for a “fancier” look. If you do not want to use a piping bag, a spoon works great to fill the whites with the yolk mixture.

FAQs

Should you make deviled eggs the night before or the day of? ›

Assemble deviled eggs no more than a day in advance.

Pipe the filling to the egg whites and store them in the fridge covered in a container up to 12 hours ahead or overnight. If you make them more than one day in advance, the filling won't be its best.

How do you thicken curried eggs? ›

Use a slurry.

Mix cornstarch, tapioca starch, or arrowroot with cold water or a cup of liquid from the curry sauce to make a slurry. Add this at the end of the cooking process—the sauce should thicken as soon as it returns to a boil.

Why do you add vinegar to deviled eggs? ›

A light-colored vinegar, like the white-wine vinegar we use in these creamy deviled eggs, brings a touch of acidity to the filling and balances the richness of the yolks and the mayonnaise.

What happens if you put too much mayo in deviled eggs? ›

Going overboard with the mayo.

But when you're heavy-handed with this ingredient, not only will it overpower the taste of the filling, but it can also make for a loose, runny filling that's tough to pipe into the egg white.

How long should you boil eggs? ›

Put the pot over high heat and bring to a boil. Once the water is at a rolling boil, turn off the heat and cover the pot with the lid. Allow the eggs to sit in the hot water for the following times according to the desired doneness: 3 minutes for SOFT boiled; 6 minutes for MEDIUM boiled; 12 minutes for HARD boiled.

Is it better to boil eggs the night before making deviled eggs? ›

If you are responsible for bringing deviled eggs, you can give yourself a head start with these tips: Boil the eggs up to 48 hours in advance. Peel, cut in half, and remove yolks. Place egg whites on tray, cover with plastic wrap, and store in fridge.

How long do curried eggs last for? ›

Curried eggs will keep well for three days in an airtight container in the fridge. If you wanted to make these the day before serving, they would be fine.

How long should a curry simmer for? ›

Bring to the boil, lower to a simmer and cook on a gentle heat uncovered for 25-30 mins or until rich and slightly reduced.

Does milk make curry thicker? ›

For a rich and creamy curry, coconut milk or cream can be a fantastic thickening agent. They not only add creaminess but also a delightful tropical flavour. Simply pour in some coconut milk or cream and let it simmer until your sauce reaches the desired consistency.

How do you make Paula Deen deviled eggs? ›

Mash yolks with a fork and stir in mayonnaise, pickle relish and mustard. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Fill egg whites evenly with yolk mixture. Garnish with paprika, pickles and pimentos.

Why are my deviled eggs not creamy? ›

If you add too much mayo, it may overpower the filling and make it runny. For a dozen eggs, ½ cup mayonnaise will make a smooth, creamy filling that can sit up high when spooned into the egg. One way to ensure you get a good yolk-to-mayo ratio is to cook a few extra eggs.

Why put paprika on deviled eggs? ›

The paprika will determine the depth of flavor of each bite. You can garnish with any kind (hot or sweet Hungarian, or hot or sweet smoked), but the better the quality, the more complex the flavor.

How do you get the mustard taste out of deviled eggs? ›

Add sweetness to your dish. Honey or maple syrup are great choices for counterbalancing mustard, but even just a spoonful of sugar will help.

Are older or newer eggs better for deviled eggs? ›

Fresh eggs, with their smaller air sacs, are more likely to have a smooth ovoid shape when peeled, which looks more appealing in applications as deviled eggs. OFF-CENTER YOLK: Fresher eggs are more likely (though not guaranteed) to have centered yolks, again leading to more attractive deviled eggs.

Do deviled eggs keep well overnight? ›

Once prepared, deviled eggs should be stored in the refrigerator immediately. They should be consumed within three to four days, which is generally considered the maximum amount of time deviled eggs remain safe to eat when stored in the refrigerator.

How do you keep deviled eggs good overnight? ›

If you'd rather fully assemble the deviled eggs in advance, be sure to store them in a single layer in an airtight container, and hold off on garnishing them until right before serving time.

Why are my deviled eggs runny the next day? ›

Making them too far in advance. Deviled eggs can be watery, dry, or lose flavor the longer they sit, so don't make them too far in advance. For the best results, prep your eggs and make the filling up two days in advance, and store them separately. Assemble the eggs before serving.

Can you prep eggs the night before? ›

You can prepare eggs in advance to eat throughout the week. Eggs can last for several days in the fridge or for several months when frozen. There's a huge variety of egg-based dishes to choose from, and many of them can be meal prepped.
