Classification

The name Conure comes from the genus conurus, which used to include Conures. Conure is still used as a term to call these birds, but the genus of conurus is no longer used, Instead, conures fall into multiple different genera. There are around 100 different species and subspecies of conures.

Size and Appearance

Conures are small parrots. Their length and wingspan vary due to the large amount of species fitting within this group.

Natural Habitat and Conservation

Conures are native to Central America and South America.

Diet

Conures eat fruit vegetables, grains, nuts, meat and dairy.

Health

Although Conures are prone to many of the same illnesses as other parrots, they are regarded as parrots that rarely get ill. Conures tend to live for 20 to 30 years.
