One of the applications of AI in medicine is the help to write the visit report. The scenario is: to talk with the patient about the clinical history without writing to the computer, and at the end, the AI produce the report of the visit where the doctor can make the final review. #AI #clinicalreport

Between Dec 2020 and June 2023, the proportion of new patient visits coded at level of service 4 increased by 35% (from 33.3% to 45.1%). In Jan 2021, the guidelines surrounding when to use which level of service changed. To qualify for level of service 4, you only needed to demonstrate that you spent 45-59 minutes of 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 working with the patient. Most new patient visits are scheduled for 45-60 min and 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 includes not only the visit itself, but also time spent reviewing labs/reports/patient history, ordering tests/meds and documenting clinical information in the EHR. Did these updated guidelines appropriately reduce the burden of clinical documentation needed to support the billed level of service, resulting in faster and more accurate reimbursem*nts? Or did they create a loop hole that makes it easier to artificially bump up the level of service for a visit? https://lnkd.in/gKdy2kX4
